Wagon Weight Hello fellow members, Is there a limit as to how much an empty wagon should weigh? I thought about converting a garden wagon we bought at Sams, but it seems heavy. ( It does have the nice fat wheels that stay under the wagon on turns.) My boy weighs 102 lbs. and is now 22 months old. Thanks in advance ksyankfan

If your wagon has 4 wheels, you don't have much to worry about. If it has 2, the weight must be centered entirely over the 2 wheels. I've got a 2 wheel homemade cart that is quite heavy. It has a steel frame with an oak and pine box. The two wheels are 20 inch bicycle wheels. It is so well balanced though, that even fully loaded, the shafts can be lifted with one finger. Of course I'm careful to place the weight over the wheels. The most important thing to consider is that the dog has no weight pressing down on its back. They can pull a tremendous amount of weight with big wheels as long as the trek is not too steep. If you look around on the net, you can find conversion kits for 4 wheel wagons, or you can make your own if you're handy. Good luck and happy carting! :D

Thank you, SarasMom. My husband knows a guy who is going to make a shaft for the wagon. I first wanted to be sure that it wasn't too heavy:) ksyankfan
