BH title

Is an OFA hip/elbow rating needed to show in confirmation and earn a BH title?

Re: BH title

It is required for USRC if your dog is over 30 months of age.

Re: BH title

A OFA score is not required for AKC but if your dog is over two years of age you should have it done.

Only hips are required for USRC (dogs over 30 months) and the dog doesn't have to have a passing rating, just a reportable rating.

Hello lblax, Thanks for your reply. From what I unerstand from your post is that a USRC dog does not have to pass the OFA rating, just have one. What about the confirmation in USRC? Can he do confirmation?

Many Thanks

The rule applies for USRC conformation.

This rule only applies to USRC conformation... Does not apply to the BH or SchH titles. A BST however requires a passing hip rating.

I apologize but I don't completely understand our communication here. Let me state it this way: Can a Rottweiler with HD compete in USRC confirmation and be eligible to take his BH test? I understand that he is not eligible for the BST or to be used for breeding. You seem to be knowledgeable with USRC rules pertaining to a dog with HD and what he can compete in. I’m just trying to figure out if he is eligible to compete in USRC conformation and able to take his USRC BH test.

Many Thanks again.

Re: BH title

Yes, he can compete in conformation and take his BH, and Sch titles.

You need to provide a hip rating for any dog 30 months or older to enter a USRC conformation show but you do not have to have a passing hip rating, you just need to have a rating.

For your BH (and subsequent Sch titles) you do not need to provide a hip rating.

Ok, I'm showing my ignorance, but what's the point if it's not a passing rating?

I think it's a good initial step. My opinion is that it should be a passing grade, but I think the rule is a good start. I think it shows that USRC is encouraging members to have it done,,pass or fail, so that they are more knowledgable about their dog's structure, it's health, it's working potential, and definitely any possible breeding in it's life.
