Trainers who specialize in Rotties in the Northern NJ and New York area

Hey everyone, first and foremost let me wish everyone Happy holidays. After a few months I have made a purchase of a male bred to "pink paper" specifications. As I am educating myself about the breed through videos(Ed Frawley.) I am beginning to become aware that trainers need to take a different approach when training Rotties. Will someone be kind enough to steer me in the right direction.....Thanks in advancel

Re: Trainers who specialize in Rotties in the Northern NJ and New York area

AS I am in Australia I have precisly zero advice as to who is good in the area you ask about however let me offer you this. Stay as far away as possable from anyone who calls themself a this breed or that breed expert. At the end of the day all dogs need to trained in a way that suits them as individuals regardless of breed, bloodlines etc and if someone is only able to do this with one breed or another then their real knowledge and training techniques are lacking. Rotts area slower to mature on the whole and a few other small differences but any decent trainer will adjust to them as second nature not as some massive difference that requires some destinctly different teachnique.

Mick.

My rescue group requires people who adopt from us to take their dog thru a series of bed classes. On our site we have a list of trainers with whom adopters have worked and liked.

Check the AKC's site for obed clubs.

Here's the ARC's list of regional and local Rottweiler clubs .

There's as terrific trainer in the Bronx, Bash Dibra. You can google him and contact him through his site. I've done group training with him and he's wonderful. There was one in my Buddy's class that went through 4 trainers until she finally found Bash. She now drives over 1 hr each way to him. He's also an evaluator and has quite an impressive history.

Re: Trainers who specialize in Rotties in the Northern NJ and New York area

I saw your reply on the working Rottweilers thread. In southern NY you can look up Hudson Valley Rottweiler Klub. I don't like to reccomend anyone BUT people who do this type of work / training are tough to find and sometimes you have to work with the people around you untill your situation is better or you meet new people. This club puts on the Schutzhund Nationals and they do have people who work Rottweilers and thats about all I will say.

You may also want to check out United States Rottweiler Club, the site is full of info. Good luck

I wouldn't let them train a hamster much less work with my dog. People shouldn't mistake experience for bad habits.

Well as I we can't give out emails addys and there is no PM function I will leave it at make sure you do your homework and look really hard before you hook up with this bunch. Just as a starting place look under the BSL thread VP of the USRC. She is one of the main people in the club.

Re: Trainers who specialize in Rotties in the Northern NJ and New York area

We are right off route 80 at the first exit in PA. So about 1 hour west of you I would say depending on traffic.

T is also a successful trainer, and experienced in working with Rotties. I believe he is in central NJ. I think not too far from where Great Adventure is.
