National Schutzhund Championship

I just talked to my friend who just got back from the rottweiler National Schutzhund Championship in Ny over the weekend this was the same time as the the gsd one in ga. There was a total on 9 dogs there. To me this is a bad turnout for a national show. then i looked at the results from 2005s show about the same amount of dogs. WHY IS THIS? I know next year i will be there i am newer to sch so my dogs where not ready. I also went to the National Sieger Show in pa this year big turn out. So with this said do rottweiler owners not care as much about sch as they do Conformation?

Actually there were only 7 actual SchH entries....6 SchH3's and 1 SchH2. Congratulations to Amanda and Carla for being crowned USRC SchH Champion 2 years running.

Re: National Schutzhund Championship

These numbers WILL Be increasing.....I have one dog that IS capable of competing at that level, she would have been there had she not blown her CCL a few months ago.....AND I have 2 young dogs that are showing they should have no problem competing at that level. I know of at least 3 other young dogs that will be at that level when they grow up.

for one rott clubs are far and few and even at a big all rott trial your probably not going to see the quality of work that you would see at a club or regional level usa or dvg trial. to remidee this the breeders will have to come to realize that show breedings with titles in the background mean nothing and eventually come to grips like the german shepherd people have that they are actually 2 differant breeds within a breed look at the usa seiger all the shepherds were black and tan and fluffy sure the dogs bit in the working class now go to a working trial and you will rarely if ever see the traditional black and tan the working lines are mainly sable or black . rottweiler owners have to strive to work there dogs in the dvg/usa/awdf and compete against other dogs and strive to keep there drives and work ethics as high as the ther breeds. and breed the dogs that can compete against other breeds

If all goes as planned, there WILL be Rotts at the AWDF AND DVG Nationals in 2008. We are expecting a full team at the AWDF.

There ARE breeders that are working to improve the working ability of the Rottweiler in this country. There have been several litters that are very promising but they have to grow up first.

So how old is your female, and when are you hoping to trial her? I hope you stick to it. There are a LOT of people with rotts with "tremendous ball drive" that start schutzhund, but don't stick with it when they see what it really takes. I agree that I wish more rotts were at the nationals. My young male just got his SchH 1 about a month ago at our club trial, and I hope to enter some of the big trials next year with him. In the meantime, we are busy getting ready for our show in ohio on december 1st. A few of the members from Chuck Wilson's club will be there.

Re: National Schutzhund Championship

There is a world of difference between entering a big a event and actually being competitive in that event.
