Male American Bulldog & Male Rottweiler?

Hi. I own a neutered male american bulldog that is great with other dogs and I'm currently looking to buy a rottweiler. I owned a female akita up until last spring and had to put her down due to old age so my bulldog has lived with other dogs. They would occasional get into scraps and although my bulldog didn't start it he never backed down. So.................would I be nuts to introduce a male rottweiler into the fray or should I just stick with a female rottweiler? I just personally prefer the look of the males but essentially that's the only reason I would get a male over a female.

If it's possible to raise two male working breeds especially if one is neutered then I may go with a male rottweiler. If it's not possible then I'd like to hear your opinions. Thanks.

How old is your bully?

If your male bully got into "scraps" with his female Akita buddy, it seems you'd be asking for trouble to bring in another male. The precarious situation often found in households having dogs of the same sex has often been discussed, as a search will show you.

Thanks Angelbunny. My american bulldog is 5 years old now. I'm sure I'll end up getting a female but just curious what people thought.

They may get on just fine, but the results if they don't will be heartbreaking. The male Rottie, if brought in as a puppy will probably get along fine until he hits about two years old. Save yourself a lot of grief and get a female.
