| The "other" protection trials and issues Most people involved with working dogs and Rottweilers have heard of dog sport trials, being Schutzhund the first one to come to mind. There are also other "less" (but quickly gaining popularity in the USA) known dog trials, such as: the French Ring, KNPV, Belgium Ring, Champagne, and Mondio Ring. All of them with similar, as well as different, rules and formats. These trials promote the working abilities and capacities of many dog breeds. Each dog sport is unique and quite amazing. There are awesome dog breeds performing in demanding conditions, proving themselves to working traits and desired behaviors. Dogs that get trialed and titled in any of these sport trials, are outstanding working specimens and the maximum pride of its owners or handlers.
However, there are other dog trials that may offer a different prospective about obedience and protection work, at levels higher than sport competition. For those that already know, it won't be "news" obviously, but to others that may be interested in it, I would like to suggest the following websites, to get some input and ideas about protection work in other formats.
