Hey, thanks for your input.Your comments are pretty much the same as others that I have talked to. One of them a police K9 officer. I am going to join a ScHh club. But just for fun. I know that training strengthens the bond between dog and owner. I love competition and I think the training will be worth it. I've got a great pup and a great breeder. This is something that I have been waiting and researching years for. I only wish I had did the same for my wife (just joking). However I have read and heard that there are some dogs military and police that are so alfa strong that they are only alble to be handled by that one person.

David,
Those "alpha" dogs that you heard about in the military have practical applications for guard and security purposes only. These kind are utilized in patrolling highly security protected fenced areas. These area security dogs are not used by Police Departments though. An MP's K9 is just as any civilian PD's patrol dog, meaning they can be sociable in the right setting, or protective when the need arises. In the military dogs have a variety of tasks, from tracking people, detecting explosives, sentry guarding, area security patrolling, search and rescue, MP handler assistance, prisoners confinement guarding, etc. Military dogs are toughest, you owe it to yourself to see one in action... it will make you "drool"! http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif

And you are right, schutzhund is not only a fine sport, but it will help you to strengthen a solid bonding with your dog... probably better than with your wife (LIKEWISE JUST JOKING! http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif )
