Herding in CT?

I think we've found our next obedience dog in one of our fosters, Sienna, plus, I think I'd like to try herding with her. She does what I can only call a "border collie" stare when she and our other foster are out playing/running in the yard - low stance, crouched down, staring at her while she 'waits' for her to get close enough to cut her off...it's pretty cool.

Anyways - is anyone familiar with any places that offer herding in or around CT - within a 2 hour drive of central CT?

Thanks much!!

Re: Herding in CT?

I went on the AKC Events and Awards Search page and searched Herding Events, current year in CT. While they do not have any trials scheduled until Sept/Oct, there was a herding club listed. There is an event secretary - Ann Marie Ely - listed with phone number and e mail address that you could contact for more information. I have shown to her in herding - she is a herding judge - and she is very nice. I am sure she would be glad to help you out.

Re: Herding in CT?

There is a very nice website put together for herding in the Northeast (being somewhat geographically challenged, please forgive me if CT is not part of the northeast...). http://www.northeastherdinginfo.com/

I believe Tenley Dexter is in the Connecticut area somewhere, and I've heard good things about her (she's an Aussie person...I'd avoid training with someone who only has experience with eye breeds like BC's and Kelpies).
