UKC trials in NH in March

Are any of you New England people coming up for the 4 UKC trials in Nashua NH in March???

Bea and Ijust mailed the entry in today (had to wait for her UKC number which just came) and hopefully the trials are not full

We'll be in Novice B and HOPEFULLY our recall over the jump will be more consistant. She's just started getting the hang of the fact that she's ALLOWED to jump this "gate" (we have 20-25" gates in our house that she's NOT allowed to jump)

At practice last night she had a SPECTACULAR run through, her best heeling ever!!! and her recalls over the jump (we did 5) were very good. 1 she hit the board, 1 she wizzed around to heel and the other 3 were quite good with one being perfect (the last one). She did not run around the jump not even once

Hopefully we'll see some of you (Jessica???) there

Re: UKC trials in NH in March

:) I just got off of the phone with a girlfriend, and I am game!! I actually got two legs in Conn for Novice B last weekend. What a wonderful atmosphere!! I haven't mailed my entry in yet because I originally got a TL # for Max, and just need to get the reg # in now......But, I was told that there is going to be a fabulous turnout for this! I will probably only do Saturday.

Diane, will you be going to the show n go over there in Feb???

PS, I showed under one of the judges for the trial, and she was a very fair judge.

They are only taking 55 entries per trial (2 trials sat, 2 trials sun) Have you already submitted for his permanat #? Is his TL expired? I ask because it took 3 weeks to get Bea's # and the entries close 2/16 or when the trial fills

Yes we are going to the show n go weather permitting, I pre entered have you??? LOL (don't want to stand around 4 hours again do you? ) :) I want to see if we have cured our jump problem in a show atmosphere. We only go to the place we practiced last night every 2 or so weeks so it IS still a strange place and they do playgroups in the training room on cold days so it is very doggie smelling (not to me but Bea said so) and sometimes even some pee on the trash can. But it's a brand new place with a great floor. We actually go to practice Rally (last night we set up a Novice and an excellent course-with 16" jumps- and Bea actually did better at the excellent course!) but I do one obed runthrough and a few jump recalls when we are done

Anne, the trials will be at Riverside Canine Center http://www.riversidek9.com the trial is also listed on the UKC website http://www.ukcdogs.com

WE figure we'll either do REALLY well or really bad. MY goal is to get all 3 legs but I'll be happy with 2 <BG> there's another UKC trial set there this fall so we can maye finish up the ttle if we don't in March, IF Bea's pups are old enough by then (she'll be bred in July-ish)

Re: UKC trials in NH in March

No, his TL expires Feb 13. I wonder if I could use that to get in, and then change the info when I get his regular reg #???

OK, OK, I will have to pre register for Riverside. I have a hard time getting all of my dog stuff together sometimes..... PS ( It really wasnt too horrible standing around for 4 hours) Next time, note to self, bring a crate so that the poor dog can take a nap!!

Re: UKC trials in NH in March

Do you guys know whether this is an obedience event only? Conformation at all? Hmmmm......if I thought Tux would be ready by March to trial I would go, but I am not sure he is yet! Is the UKC criteria for obedience similar to AKC? Iknow there are slight differences with CKC obedience.

Re: UKC trials in NH in March

Maureen, it is OB only. The only differences for Novice are: honoring down (working handler does on leash heel and figure 8, honoring handler downs dog and leaves him where told to, and stands across from him as a long stay would work) You will be both a working handler and an honoring handler. You do the honoring exercise right after you are the working handler.

Recall is over the high jump. Depending on Tux's height, he would jump a max of 24 inches. Everything else is the same

Thanks Jessica! Not sure we'd get through the recall over a jump part yet! Maybe I will come & spectate...sounds like fun.

Re: UKC trials in NH in March

Phil is trying to decide when to go to Nashua to visit his dad. I am going to give him these dates and see if he wants to go then, and he can come and cheer you all on.

We never travel together because of the dogs. We just cannot bear to board them at the places available around here. BUT I will be in MD in August for RottStock and expect to meet many of you there!
Good luck to all of you who are entered in the trail in March by the way!

Re: UKC trials in NH in March

Is there a place online to read about UKC obedience trial regulations? I am finally getting acquainted with the AKC regs...and wondered what is expected in the UKC competitions. We are in Massachusetts...so maybe we'll come up to watch and meet you guys!
