2003 goals?

I know we're a bit into 2003 already, but now that trial season is finally opening (up here in the NE anyway!), what are your goals for 2003? What would you like to see, and what do you think is realistic?

Here are mine:

Froli - SchH3 in Fall
Finish Novice titles (NA, NAJ)
Finish Open titles (OA, OAJ)
Finish Excellent titles (AX, AXJ)
Start earning QQ's and MACH points

Vikka - BH in late Fall (that damn 15mos age rule!)
Debut in Agility

Realistically, I'm guessing we'll be finishing Open titles, and starting Excellent by the November trials (assuming she's not in heat!), and with Vikka, the BH will probably wait til next year. It's hard to find December trials up here.

Look at me I'm going to actually post in the Working Rotts section...

Well I never been into showing but have always had goals for my dogs.

Our goal for Nicki is super retirement. At 14 she deserves that and just another healthy year will make me happy. We beat our other goal, which was to get her back to her 17 pound ideal weight(not Rott obviously) from 23. She gains weight real easy and we have her at 19 right now and other then shedding as usual at this time of the year she looks wonderful.

Now to Psyche.......:D I have always been a firm believer in waiting till a dog matures for the CGC or if you do it early on do it again after age 2. She would have passed with flying collars at 6 months. Now at 28 months and she is maturing is where I believe the real challenge is. I would like to see her get the CGC this year. We are close.....:D I would also like to get the roll over trick. She learns new tricks so easy but we are having a bit of problems on the roll over....

Ok, I know not quite as impressive as you, but it's a start.......

For Xander there are a variety:
-Finish his CD, he got his first leg at nationals this past week
-Start competing in agility (NA, NAJ), possibly go on to open
-Get in 20 hours of therapy work (we just started)
-Learn carting commands so when I can afford a cart we can start competing
-Start training for his CDX, to compete next spring

For Sadie things are simple:
-Get her ILP!
-Start training for a possible CD (it might be impossible and I will give up!)
-Start competing in agility (NA, NAJ)
Can't push those Dalmations too hard or they will just shut off, so I leave expectations for her pretty low :D

Awesome y'all!

And Melissa, I completely agree with you that to re-do the CGC with an adult dog is definitely more work than with a puppy. Adult dogs are more suspicious and defensive, it's simply a maturity thing. A young puppy will accept just about anyone in any situation, an adult will not.

For 2003 my goals for Riven are:

Get last U-CDX leg
Start and finish a UD
Get two more legs for his OA and OAJ
Get two more legs for his EAC
Get one more leg for his EGC
Start his EJC
Start his JHD and PT herding titles

Wish list would be:
Start working on his NATCH
Start on some UDX legs
Get some AX and AXJ legs
Get certified in tracking to go for his TD
Become independently weathly so I can quit work and train more
:D

MOJAVE: Get his CDX this summer/eary fall and move him back into Agility to prep him for his first Agility title next spring. He's got his first Open Trial on May 18 to try for that first CDX leg....wish me luck! :)

KAIYA: Depending on whether or not we find a decent SchH club to join, I'd like to get her started in that direction....not focusing on SchH1 but more so on the Obedience and perhaps tracking titles. If that doesn't pan out, I'd like to have her prepped enough for her CD by the end of the year.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE with your goals! WE CAN DO IT :D

This is an interesting topic....really made me think about where we are and where we hope to be by the end of the year!:)

By the end of the year I would like to see Elijah:

Finish Excellent A JWW (need one more leg)

Finish Excellent A Standard (need all 3 legs)

Earn the MXJ title

Earn the MX title

Have afew Double Q's and some Mach points

Remain in the Top 50 UKC All Stars for Agility II (This month we are #1 and the only Rottie-in 2004 the Top 50 in AGI, AGII, and AGIII will be invited to a special All Star Competition)

Do lots more of good Rottie public relations.....we like to change minds about the breed...one by one:)

Realistically I will be very happy if we are earning legs towards the MX and MXJ by the end of the year in AKC. I'm pretty sure we will remain in the Top 50 in UKC AGII as long as we compete on a fairly regular basis. Anything more than that would really be sweet!:D

Great topic!

1. To finish our last two "basic obedience classes" at the obedience club, so we can become members, and proceed to therapy work training.

2. In the fall, provided we pass the above class, they have a visiting pets program Class, where we will work on the skills needed to become certified.

3. By the beginning of next year, would like to be involved in therapy work.

4. I second Elijah's mom...always upholding the true rottie and being the best we can be.

Great thread!

I am keeping my goals pretty simple. I just want to get to the point where Bella and I can start working towards a CD title in the fall (Goal is to get her in the ring by that time) - I have no idea how fast we will progress so at this point I am playing it by ear. My biggest fear is burning her out by expecting too much too soon. (She will be 1 yr old in June).

I'd like Parker to get his CH this year.

During 2003 I'd also like to get his CGN and start on obedience competition.
