Herding training

I have an opportunity to train with Cappy Pruett on Friday morning. Has anyone else trained with him? My girl has never worked with livestock, so he'll be working with her, and I'll be observing. I'd like to hear from anyone else that's worked with Cappy.

Well I guess I'm the only who's heard of him! lol
We went early this morning for our very first exposure to livestock and it went incredibly well! Cappy Pruett is from Oklahoma and his specialty is Stock Dog training. He was here in Ohio today and Thursday, as a guest of the Emerald Valley Rottweiler Club.
He utilizes "calm, quiet training and livestock handling." Diva was a natural. He walked her into the pen with a long line, introduced her to the sheep, and she was working purely on instinct. After a few minutes he brought her out of the pen for a break so another Rottie could work, then we returned and she worked WITHOUT the long line! He used the prod and calm, gentle persuasion to guide/correct her, then he had me join them in the pen and shadow him. So now I'm hooked! It's absolutely amazing to see our Rottweilers 'really working! We'll continue our Obedience training, but Herding and Tracking will be our energy outlets. Oh, did I mention the mud? ;)

I didn't see this until today. I don't know anything about Cappy except I have seen his name around. Glad to hear your girl did well. Herding is so much fun. Anything that shows the natural instinct and talent of the dog is amazing to watch.
