| I would go to the AKC website and do a search on herding judges. Find one close to you and contact them. Ask them if they know of any classes or instructors you can contact to get started. Herding folks are very helpful. You can also do a search for AHBA- American Herding Breeds Association and do the same thing about the judges. AHBA is a little more relaxed then AKC, but many judges judge both venues.
Herding is a blast. My male Duncan, who hates anything that he thinks is work, loves to herd. He has placed in all but one trial in the last year. He is currently #6 in the AKC rottweiler standings. Just don't tell him he is working or he will stop:D
