Here's one for you working boys and grrrls......

We've started training Deiter recently, and basicly, he's started out with a clean slate. We've used a tug with him since puppyhood..... He has always had excellent bite inhibition - if he ever did engage human skin, backed off immediately, and always a gentle tooth.....he's been outing well for a long time. He has pretty consistantly hit the center of the tug, and has been easily corrected back to the center of said tug with a little redirection....

So, my question to those of you in the "know" = He started actively "hand hunting" last night - first, he nailed the crap outta my hand (no broken skin, but I couldn't move my fingers for a good 10 minutes or so, and lots o swelling and bruising...Deiter 1, me 0), we corrected him immediately, between my verbal dissatisfaction with his behavior, and a hearty pop on the prong by the trainer...... then, the trainer took over the tug, and Deiter, for the first time started watching the trainer's hand, and AIMING for it......?????????? What the hell?
We corrected him several times, and he started zeroing in on the center of the tug again, and put him away on the good note.

Now, the weather FINALLY cooled off here, and both dogs we were training (Deiter and the trainer's) were zany as all get out....
but I can't see a little cold front totally changing Deiter's mode of play like that....

Puzzled in Tallahassee.

LMAOOO

Oh great, imitating his little brother now..... <<tapping foot>> :D

He definitely enjoyed the tasted of my hand for that third of a second.... hummmph. Hopefully, we put a bad taste in his mouth regarding his desire to hold hands. We'll see tonight. :) Will you be there, MucK?
