| Working Weight For Rottweilers This is maybe a life long debate most people like the big 140-160 pound rottweiler. You always here people say that the bigger the better. I like my rottweilers at 120-130 no bigger than that I feel a dog that's larger than that won't be any good at working won't last long in a fight and will probably be a candidate for weight watchers. I mena how can you get a dog that size to work well. What's your ideal weight for a good rottie for working. |

| My male going on to three now is 43kg's and even at this weight, being very muscular and "big boned" is at a big disadvantage when compared to other "lighter" breeds. However his proportions, for me, are perfect.:)

| I like a male working Rott to be about 45-50 kilos. This does not mean that I do not want one bigger if it had the correct drives etc but for a perfect dog then a bit smaller rather than bigger. I also really like a compact proportioned dog. In my time the Rotts that have hit the hardest have always been smaller dog that have been very compact and thus have great speed and agility. Clearly the mind is very important to this but in pure size terms smaller (within reason) and more compact is better. Mick. |

| In my opinion, a male working Rottweiler should weight between 100 to 120 lbs, where the 110 mark seems to be just the ideal working weight. |

| I keep my Rottweiler thin, he is about 25.5" or so.. I keep him between 95-105lbs.. but I don't weigh him that often, I go off of his appearance, and energy (on field) any time that I let him get a little heavier, his stamina drops off the table .... he probably thinks he is starving :p !!!

| For those of you still wondering...Mulitply Kilos by 2.2 to get pounds... To get kilos from pounds divide the pounds by 2.2.. Our boys are 85-90 and 90-95... I don't think I'd want anything more than 105 on a male...

| I'm gonna add to yer confuzion (like the spelling :D ?) by saying that Leader measures about 65cm and weighs in at 42-45kilos (working weight). I don't put him on a diet, just increase the activity, leaving him outside when I'm at work and swimmiing when I can find the time to take him (2 jobs! lol) He's a little long but if you take a look at the following site you'll see pictures of him (and my lovely Teena who's gone). http://community.webshots.com/user/beaderbaby I personally ADORE the enormous rotts, just to loo at. They can't work French Ringsport or mondioring, poor babies (:D :D ;) )
