Moxie Earns Two Legs of Her UCDX

Today Moxie earned her first and second legs of her UCDX at the Weston Dog Training Club, Franklin, MA.

There were six dogs in both classes and the two oldest dogs--Mox and a Standard Poodle--were the only qualifiers in both. Mox earned a 188 in both.

In both she lost points heeling. Her big heeling boo-boo was not sitting for a halt. I looked down at her when she did this and raised my eyebrows. This worked when she once forgot to sit during her CD--she promptly sat.

The eyebrows didn't work today--she looked up at me, saw the expression on my face, and gave me a big smile. I rolled my eyes. Moo smiled wider.

I am quite pleased with Moxer. She's a rescue girl and has been alot of fun.

Every day I count my blessings that her first family ditched her in that shelter when she was about six months old. That rescue was there to step in to help her. That my DH and I fostered her. That Moxie is our forever dog.

Re: Moxie Earns Two Legs of Her UCDX

Many congrats to both you and Moxie.

In reading through past posts as well as this one, you have done so much with her.

You are as lucky to have her as she is lucky to have you.

Way to go!!!!

Way to go!

I dream of the day I'll be able to attempt those scary long sits and downs in traditional obedience!

Re: Moxie Earns Two Legs of Her UCDX

The UKC stays are MARGINALLY less scarey than AKC as the down is an honor down where your dog is in a down stay while the next dog does the heeling routine in the ring. The sits are still in a group as AKC is

Thumbs up Re: Moxie Earns Two Legs of Her UCDX

Congratulation to you and Moxie.
Just goes to show that the rescue dogs are just as smart and able to do anything...pedigrees and bloodlines are not all that important. A good dog, and an owner willing to put the time into training can just about do anything.

Re: Moxie Earns Two Legs of Her UCDX

Angelbunny, you & Moxie further give Carley & me hope!! Carley was also dumped at 6 months & I'm so happy WE found her!!!

I can totally see that smile now!! It was that "I'm so cute!" smile, huh??!!! Carley smiles the same way when she knows she should do something I want and she know what it is--but wants to do it on her own terms! :) LOL

I do hope someday Carley & I can get there--maybe not in a show/competition so much, but just the knowledge!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You guys ROCK!!!
