Our First CD Title

I haven't posted much over the past year, but this has been such a great weekend for us, I just couldn't resist!

Max finished his CD title today at the Augusta GSD Club All-Breed Obedience Trial. He earned all three legs in the past three weeks under three different judges, with first place placements on all three legs. His scores were 192, 189½ and 194. Today, he was the 2nd highest scoring dog in the trial, and missed High in Trial by just one point!

Our lowest score (189½) was last Friday, in the pouring rain, with an inch of standing water and mud on the field. We took a five-point hit on the recall because Max came at a run, and when he put on the brakes, he slid right past me in the mud and wet grass. However, I was absolutely THRILLED that he immediately rushed back to a perfectly straight front, with a priceless "sorry mom" grin on his face.

Luna also went winners bitch at the Augusta Kennel Club show on Saturday. It was significant for me as this was her first time winning from open, and it was my first time stepping into the conformation ring.

All in all, it's been a super weekend for us, and I am so proud of my dogs I could bust!

Congrats!!! I can only imagine the conditions, if they were anything like our trial today. The teeter was letting dogs off in an 8" deep puddle!! I'm sure Max will be enjoying a nice warm, dry nap this evening!!

Thanks everyone! I really wanted to post my milestone here more than anywhere else as Rott.net is the place that inspired me to train my dog in the first place.

We've already started training in open and utility exercises, but since Max is my first OB dog, it takes ME much longer to learn these things than Max! Luckily for me, he has an awesome work ethic and has been extremely patient with me.

I am also training Luna for OB, and will be working towards earning her first obedience titles next year.

I have found obedience to be HIGHLY addictive, and I don't know who loves it more, me or the dogs! It is truly the most rewarding thing I have done in my life. I am more proud of this CD than I am of my own college degree!
