Welcome to the Vet's Corner!

The health and welfare of our beloved Rottweilers is a topic of primary importance. These dogs have captured our hearts and we want the best for them. As owners of these wonderful dogs, it is our responsibility to recognize and properly tend to the veterinary needs of our dogs. By doing so, we greatly improve the chances that they will enjoy happy, long, and comfortable lives by our side, as the loyal companions we all know them to be.

Here in Vet's Corner, WHAT WE ARE is a forum to discuss all topics related to the health, medical needs and/or veterinary care of our Rottweilers. We talk about choosing a vet, standards of care, preventative care, first aid, vaccination protocols. We share information on canine diseases, discuss treatment options and offer tips for management during recovery. You name it, we discuss it. We try our hardest to help you help your dog in times of need, and if your best friend is suffering from a chronic or incurable disease, we do our best to offer advice that will be beneficial to your dog's comfort and well-being. We aim to prevent needless suffering.

Here in Vet's Corner, WHAT WE ARE NOT is a substitute for a hands-on exam by a licensed DVM. We have many members with a vast amount of knowledge on this topic, but no one is able to properly diagnose your dog sight unseen or over the internet. Your first call for a sick or injured dog should be to your vet's office.

And lastly, we have many people who come here to search for information whose dogs may be presently suffering from an ailment. It is of great benefit to a sick dog if the information a search can provide comes up as coherently as possible, producing solid information without undue delay. Therefore, our request to each of you as members is twofold:

1) When you begin a thread regarding an ailment, please post updates on your dog's condition as replies to the original thread instead of starting a new topic.

2) If a member is posting in the Vet's Corner, we assume they are seeking advice and information. Please limit your replies in Vet's Corner to those offering information or assistance on behalf of the sick/injured dog or to help fortify the member's understanding of the dog's condition. Offers of sympathy and support to the owner, while understandable, do not help the dog, nor do they help others seeking information for the same or similar conditions. However, if the member is primarily seeking support, we realize it is very helpful to the member for others be able to offer support in this way. We respectfully ask that members utilize the forum designated for that purpose. Extraneous chit chat will be removed.

We have a wealth of health and welfare related information available on Rott Dot Net. It is available for use by members as well as the general public. This compilation would not exist without the information that you as members have contributed. On behalf of Rottweilers all over the world, you have our sincerest gratitude for the contributions you have made. Thank you all.
