Re: Bart’s surgery is Friday

I'm glad to hear surgery went well and ended up going better than anticipated.

I totally agree though, the hardest thing is to say goodbye and watch them being led out of the room. Both times we had to leave Lou for the day....oh he gave us kisses got to the door, turned back, looked at us, wagged that little nub and walked out. The way they trust is just unbelievable. And the house seems so empty when they're gone.

Here's hoping tonight speeds by so you can big him up tomorrow.

Re: Bart’s surgery is Friday

I hope your dog does well after surgery. Our Jake just had surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right hind leg. They casted the leg after surgery. Jake whined all day everyday that he had the cast on. The day before he was to go to the vet and have the cast removed, he took it off. And it was in one piece. He never chewed it, how it came off like that still has us baffled. It was on, and then he walked past me and there was no cast, it was in one piece under the dining room table. Vet said it was a first for him. Jake wanted a lot of attention after surgery. It was a long 10 days with that cast and the whining. Vet said he was not in pain, but Rotties are vocal dogs and they will complain when uncomfortable. LOL!!!!

Re: Bart’s surgery is Friday

Thanks for all positive thoughts! Bart is doing great. I have to charge the camera to get some good pics, but I'm attaching a pic I took with my phone! The nurses mentioned what a great temperment he had and how well behaved he was. For now he is resting I will be sure to post more pics just wanted to thank everyone!!!!

Re: Bart’s surgery is Friday

Bart is doing good this morning, but he doesn't seem to like his T shirt! LOL I don't blame him. He has been hard to keep down, but we are managing. It is amazing how different he seems to stand already, I can't wait to see him play again. Terrillary, you are right Bart seems to only calm down when we are laying with him and giving him extra attention, he has us wrapped around his paw right now! Thanks again everyone!!! I am going to put a pic of him relaxing with Daddy in my gallery pics!

Re: Bart’s surgery is Friday

So happy to hear he is doing well...its crazy how much hair they have to shave off...Saybas hair is nearly all grown back but its been 3mnths since her surgery!!! I think i was more shocked on how she looked after surgery then the actual surgery lol. He is going to love all the extra attention & even when he is better wont let you get away easy...hehe! All the best for a speedy recovery :) look forward to more updates

Re: Bart’s surgery is Friday

Okay, so Bart is doing really well. No more crying in the cage. We have been attaching his leash to the couch just so he can have family time! He has chewed through two leashes.LOL. Thursday we get our staples out. I am really lucky he has really handled this beautifully all things considered. I will post a pic of him and Daddy, he has been trying to sneak onto our laps on the couch.

Re: Bart’s surgery is Friday

Yep we've been thru many leashes too while my girl was recovering from leg surgery. I finally got a cheap, flimsy chain one about 5' and tied it to the kitchen sink. No more chewing. Bart's a handsome fellow! Best of luck with his recuperation!

Re: Bart’s surgery is Friday

So Bart has been doing really well since the staples came out. April 15th should be his last follow up, then we can ease him back into normal activity. The yard should fence should be finished by then so he will have his own little area to free run in. Thanks again for all the support I will post another update soon!

I'm so glad to read that Bart is doing better. Having a fenced in yard is a godsend.
