Rottweiler drooling and licking chops

Hi. Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this and/or knows the cause. My 4yr. male rott. (Rocky), occasionally has these incidences where he will drool constantly and lick his chops, he doesn't seem to be in any distress. I have looked in his mouth thinking that maybe he bit his tongue, or cut himself on his bone, but cannot see anything. His diet is always the same, nothing out of the ordinary. I thought that maybe he had like an acid type thing going on, so I usually give him some tums when this happens, but I can't say whether or not it helps. This usually lasts for 2-5 hours. Oh, and no stress factors are in order during these times, which I had thought about too. I can say that my late retriever occasionally had these incidences as well. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help. - Marybeth

Re: Rottweiler drooling and licking chops

Sounds like nausea... maybe from reflux or something?

Does it happen often enough to think about giving him something on a daily basis? Aeva recently was on a boatload of meds for a sytemic infection and had an irritated gut. I gave her a generic acid reducer from Rite Aide.
