Histiocytoma

My lil' 7 mos. old pup, Jazz has a tumor-like growth on his leg the vet diagnosed as a histiocytoma. Its common, benign and no doubt a result from his allergy problem. They usually go away on their own, and don't normally require surgery.

Unfortunately, Jazz seems to tear at it to the point where it's a pretty gnarly open wound.

I bought an e-collar for him to wear when I'm not home to watch, and have been using mupirocin and vet wrapping it to avoid infection.

He seems terribly uncomfortable. He lays around all day, not his usually rambunctious self. He doesn't even go to the door for a bathroom break, he's holding it until I almost have to drag him outside to go...then he pees forever.

Do you guys recommend anything to make him a bit more comfortable? I miss him being my funny pup. :(

Re: Histiocytoma

benign Histiocytomas do often go away but as you've found some dogs gnaw on them

A scientifically tested and proven aid in reduction or elimination of these is Turmeric. I myself as well as a someone else I know has used this SUCCESSFULLY in reducing and eliminating these

You can buy this in healthfood stores (quite pricey) or at a Walgreens or online etc (amazon.com was having a sale awhile back) and give three capsules 2-3 times a day for at least 6 weeks.

You can also use Turmeric from the spice section of the grocery store (plain turmeric with nothing else added) 1/8 tsp equals a capsule. Using the spice version though there is no guaranteed potency and sometimes it takes longer to work

Turmeric will stain your hands and rugs though so use care
