Worried about my Puppy

I am really worried about Bart. He has been on his Doxy for 5 days now, as he was diagnosed with Lyme's last Friday after we took him to a third vet for a third opinion . His first vet assumed he had a sprain when he was walking funny, when he got worse we figured it was time for a second opinion and went to an emergency vet hospital who gave him pain meds and said the same thing since the pain could not be pin pointed. Although he is eating better and seems to have more energy, his walking has not improved much. The vet wants us to wait another week or two with the Doxy and his pain meds and see how he does. I feel like we are playing a waiting game while he suffers. I am also concerned about any permanent damage this may cause. At times he will refuse to walk at all, especially if he plays for even a few minutes. Is there anything else I can request they do for him?? More blood work to check for other things??I am extremely paranoid after reading some of the threads on Lyme’s? Sorry I am rambling on I just have this gut feeling we are missing something here even with pain meds he is in severe pain. FYI will be 6 months on the 7th and weighs about 70lbs, and is usually very active dog.

Re: Worried about my Puppy

Well, we are going back to see the vet first thing in the morning, he is going to run some neurological tests, as well as more x-ray's to check for Pano. I am just hoping they can figure this out. I feel so bad for him that it is taking this long for us to figure it out. If any one has any suggestions of what this could be we would appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: Worried about my Puppy

The vet ran a standard test, but I just found out that only indicates he has had Lyme Disease so we will have the more accurate test done tomorrow to show the level in his system now (hope I'm wording that right), as well as some more x-rays.

Re: Worried about my Puppy

I'm sorry I miss read you reply his test was positive, but we are going for more conclusive tests to see how bad it is, and if that can be causing all his problems.
