Closed eyes...

When I came home from work tonight hubby had picked up Paadise at daycare and commented that she seems to be keeping her eyes closed and squinting.

She allowed me to wiped them with a warm cloth. I called the daycare to see if they noticed anything unususal and they said no she was playing with a group of females dogs all day and being quite the lady.

It has been windy here so I'm thinking she might have gotten dust in her eyes.

I called the vet to bring her in first this tomorrow morning. Just to be on the safe side (ok- overprotective momma! )

Any suggestions what might have happened?

Thanks

Michele

Re: Closed eyes...

How old is she? My Lola started squinting, and closing an eye off & on at about 4mths.We thought it was just something in it since it appeared to get better & then all of the sudden it was terrible. She constantly looked like she was winking. We treated her with drops and it would help but not go away.Eventually at 6mths she was diagnosted with Entropion ( lower lid rolling inwards, eyelashes irritating eye..very uncomfortable for them) and we just had surgery. Today is day 12 & its amazing how well she looks & her eye is fully open. Shes happy as can be!

I dont mean to get you worried but please keep an eye on it. Apparently this is something that pops up often in this breed, thank God it is easily corrected. It usually affects both eyes (according to what I have read) we were lucky it was just one.

Its probably just something that got in her eyes. It can also be something she is allergic to at the doggy daycare. We mommies worry....heres praying it is gone tomorrow:)

Re: Closed eyes...

She is about 5 years old.

She has been going to the same facilty for 3 years - I love the staff and the facility is also clean and the dogs well cared for!! We also do all of our training there.

Re: Closed eyes...

Oh she's past the growing stage:) hopefully she
is not to uncomfortable & it's something
that will go away easily. Your doggy center
sounds great .. Wish we had something like
that. Please post what the vet tells you. Good luck
with your girl!

Re: Closed eyes...

UPDATE...

We just got back from the vet. He thinks she might have inhaled something, allergies or possibly a bee sting (I have not seem any bees) so he gave her a shot and we have drops to put in for the next week. He did not see any eye trama. As posted orignally it was very windy here over the weekend so maybe it's just dust.

The little girl is resting on her puppy bed.

Glad to hear that Paradise is ok. Let us know if anything develops.
