poorly 8 week old puppy, help needed

my 17 yr old neighbour fell in love with willow my rottie and has wanted one since i got him, so she went to kennels and brought home a 2yr old male..without doing any research..he started showing aggressive behaviour towards certain members of the family so they took him back to the kennels, he lasted 1 week with them.

the 17yr old then went and bought a 8 week old pup, from a petshop in the middle of a shopping centre. she told me he was fat because the petshop had been feeding him 4 meals a day..she showed me a picture..the poor pups belly wasnt fat but was badly swollen. i went to see the pup and i touched his belly to see if it was hard (which it was) and the poor guy flinched away when i did.
i obviously told them to take him to vets a.s.a.p because at the least i thought it was severe worms, but they didnt..they just bought worming tablets.
the pup has also had diarrhea for quite a few days now, maybe longer actually..i once again told them to take him to vets straight away, i called in yesterday to see what the vet said..but they STILL havent taken him. they said his diarrhea stops for a day, maybe two days at the most so they think hes better but then it starts again.

the puppy also hasnt had any vaccinations yet.

he has a slight weepy eye and just lies about most the day they have told me, seems tired all the time.

i dont know what else to say to them, i have pleaded for them to take him to vets, i have also offered to take him myself. i dont know what else to do? HELP!!!

i think there is something really wrong with the poor little guy, any ideas what it could be anyone??

We can't possibly diagnose what's wrong with that poor, sad puppy. The puppy needs to see a vet.

My thoughts mirror yours - anything I think it might be requires a vet visit. I don't understand their reluctance to take this puppy to the vet and can understand your frustration.

Do they not plan on getting him his puppy shots?

Sounds to me like your neighbors are pretty uneducated about dogs.

I don't understand some people. This poor pup needs to be seen by a vet. Is there any way you can get animal control involved? Maybe that would shake them up a bit.

I agree with harleychick, I would place an anonymous call to animal control. This dogs suffering because of ignorance is heart wrenching.
