Shaking head

Howdy,

My almost 1 year old has recently started shaking her head a lot. Cleaned and re-cleaned the ears. There doesn't seem to be any hair or anything in there. I read somewhere that it could be a food allergy or allergies in general.

Figured I would ask on here before takin her to the vet just to see if I missed anything.

Any info on this?

Re: Shaking head

Well this probably isn't going to help you much because there are so many reasons:

Yes, fillers in dog food can cause allergies (fillers such as corn, soy and wheat gluten).
Ear mites
Moisture in the ear
Ticks
Ear infections (signs: heat, infection, odor, drainage, wet, sticky hair around the ear.
Foreign object deep in the ear.

You might end up taking your girl to the vet so he can look deeper into the ear.
Good luck, hope she is better real soon.

Re: Shaking head

Allergies cause head shaking only in that they tend to contribute to gunk and possible infections in the ear.

It could be that there's something stuck deeper in her ear canal, which you wouldn't be able to see because the ear canal is shaped like an "L", with the bottom of it making a sharp turn in towards the head.

I'd definitely have a vet take a better look inside her ears.
