Re: stitchs

I don't remember my female having anything over her stitches. If she won't leave her stitches or dressing alone, you'll need to do something to protect that area. There are some alternatives to the elizabethan collars, though, that she may tolerate more.

Re: stitchs

my female didn't have anything covering her stitches. we got lucky she never messed with that area so she didn't need her elizabethan collar.

Re: stitchs

Lola was given a Bite Not collar that went around just her neck but made it impossible for her to bite the stitches. It was about 5 or 6 inches wide. Took it off after day two and replaced it with 2 whip lash collars used for people. I think they are called clavical collars. Her vet said not to leave her alone for a second unless she had the Bite not collar on. Her incision was high up her belly so I don't know how she would have even reached them. We elected to finally just leave the clavical collars and watched her round the clock. I slept on an air mattress with her for 6 nights.
Check out the collar either (No Bite or Bite Not) The vet carries them here.
