| Allergies? My 3 year rottie has had some food allergy issues, which only caused GI issues. Now that that is taken care of, he has started to have a lot of green discharge from his eyes. No coughing or sneezing, everything else is fine. He has no problem in the colder months. I am thinking this is allergies, but what can I do to help him? I wipe his eyes daily, but that is all I can do. Let me know if anyone has any ideas! Thanks!! |

| Re: Allergies? Hi Katie - Food allergies typically affect the ears as well as the intestinal track, so I'm surprised on the eye goo issue. Has your vet done blood work or did they just try an elimination diet? Eyes are typically airborne allergies, so you may need to go back and do the full skin test in order to aleviate the eye issue.

| Re: Allergies? Katie, you might want to read my post about my dog's light sensitivity. As it turns out he has an allergy, we don' t really know if it's food or pollen or??? but he was diagnosed with uveitis which is a type of inflamation in the eyes. He didn't have any goop in his eyes but my understanding is goopy eyes are not uncommon with this. I'm certainly not qualified to tell you this is or isn't related, but it's something to keep in mind. I would spare you the fear and panic I went through (not to mention the added expense of an emergency after hours vet). You could talk with your vet about Benedryl and the correct dosage for your dog. Anyway it's just a thought. Lots of luck Wendi |

| Re: Allergies? What food are you feeding him? If it is something the vet prescribed (science diet)...then sadly this is the cause of his eye boogers. Also be careful green or puss colored eye gook can be a sign of an eye infection.

| Re: Allergies? I think my 12 week old boy has seasonal allergies, (no fleas, I have checked) I think its grass, is the vet the only one that can help this kind of allergy ? I really don't want to medicate him if I don't have to. I am feeding him Solid Gold - Wolf Cub, any thoughts ? |
