Fozzy had her senior exam on May 2 with all of the blood work. When the results came back to the vets office I got a call saying every thing looked good and was normal. Today when I took Greta in I asked for a copy of the lab work. I am home looking over the results and some of them don't look normal. Or am I just an alarmist. So any help interpreting them would be appreciated.
First of all Fozzy is 8-1/2 Female, spayed. At the top of the page she is listed as 9, Male, Castrated. So that was my first concern. Are the ranges for normal the same for dogs and bitches?
Here are the results that are not within the normal or reference range.
- Free Triiodothyronine (FT3) 4.3 L Reference range (4.5-12.0)
- Mean Corpuscular Hgb Conc. 30.0 g/dl Ref range (30.8-35.9)
- Cholesterol 317 mg/dl Ref range (98-300)
I realize these results are not that far from what the reference range is. But if the reference range is different in dogs and bitches as it is for human males and females could it be significant.
