Re: bumps on face

Does she eat or drink out of a plastic bowl? If so, it could be an allergy to the plastic. Mine had that happen to his mouth/chin and when we quit using plastic, it went away. I'd still check with the vet to make sure.

Re: bumps on face

Lola had these bumps all over the bottom of her chin on and off for the first year of her life. Vet checked and said it was puppy acne and suggested Stridex medicated pads. He said they would respond the same way teenage acne did. The cleaner her face, the smaller the outbreak. She never drank from plastic so we never knew how she got them. They went away for good after she was spayed. She also never got them when she swam and was in the pool with the chemicals. It was very smart to post a picture. Looks exactly like Lola's face when she was that age.

Re: bumps on face

My Rotti Nico had these when he was 2. I rushed into the vet nervous snd he said "Has this dog been under any stress lately?" and here it was acne brought on by stress! Who would think dogs can have a break out!

We had just left him with the family (house in which he grew up in) while we went on our honeymoon! We NEVER left Nico again!......and the acne never came back!

Re: bumps on face

I think everyone is right. My Ansel had those as a pup. He is now 10 1/2 years and I never saw them again. As for stress related bumps, my sister had a boxer that would break out in the ugliest hives whenever she didn't go on a trip with them. The minute the suitcases came out, the hives started. She would look like she had rolled in brown grapes. Benedryl did the trick for her.

But, a vet check is always a good idea.

Re: bumps on face

My guy got this also when he was a little younger- he's almost 2 now. I stopped using a plastic bowl, switched to stainless steel and wash it thoroughly daily, hot water and detergent. All signs of his lumps disappeared and haven't returned since. They actually cleared up in a few days.

Re: bumps on face

Nisha had weird growths on her toes; basically warts !! I forget the name of the virus, but it went away in like a month (by itself).

The vet told me it is most common in young dogs. Also, it is more common for them to have them on the face; she showed me a photo and it looked exactly like your dogs face. I will do some research to find out what the name of the virus is.

Found it ; Nisha had canine papilloma virus AND histiocytomas

Canine Viral Papillomas
Histiocytoma in Dogs

I couldn't find a pic like the vet had, but it really did look quite similar. I would still take her to the vet though!

Re: bumps on face

I can't open the pictures because I am at work-stupid systems!! our Riley had the same thing when she was a puppy-little bumps on her chin-it turned out she was allergic to plastic!! she was eating and drinking out of a plastic food bowl. we took her to the vet and it was allergies-i remember laughing at the time, thinking, she's going through puberty. we switched to stainless steel bowls and the bumps went away and never returned-that was almost 8 years ago. still check with the vet, but that is what it was for Riley.
