| Tips or Tricks w/doggie diapers? Our rotts spend most of their day in our house. Our puppy just went into heat, and we'd like to keep her in the house, and out of her kennel. Our two older rotts we got as adults and they were already altered, so we have never experience this. We are looking into doggie diapers, human towel diapers, but can't decide which is better or which would work best. We will soon have her altered, so until her appointment we need a solution. Any ideas? |

| Re: Tips or Tricks w/doggie diapers? For a dog in heat, the pet stores sell doggie pants. They come with pads that you keep changing. I tried them for Lola but they didn't stay up well because I think the dog really needs a tail to keep them up. We ended up taking a pair of tights, Leggs brand from the drug store. I cut off the legs and she stepped into them. They were pulled up to her mid section. I used a thin self stick maxi pad. I slid it down under her tail inside the tights. It stayed in place because the elastic material of the tights held it. If you try this, get 2 pairs because when she goes out to do her business, they have to come off and they may need to be washed. Lola is a big girl so we needed an XL sixe tights. She went through at least 2 boxes of maxi pads. She was spayed 4months after her first heat. |

| Re: Tips or Tricks w/doggie diapers? I use the doggie pants (undies) and just use a regular always pad in them (thin), and change it out as needed. I have the ones that are velcro sides and can be adjusted, never had a problem with them. The best part is they are wash/dry able. Just remember for the first couple of days to take them off when she needs to do her business. My husband would forget, and I was washing doggie undies daily . |

| Re: Tips or Tricks w/doggie diapers? Amber's fixed but last year when she popped an anal gland (it was impacted) we went the dog pants route to keep her away from it while it healed. I did a combo of trish & lola's ideas, actually had a pad stuck to a pair of bicycle shorts with the dog pants on top of them because if I stuck the pad to the dog pants themselves Amber could nose it aside & get at the wound. You really do need a tail to keep those pants in place but a pad stuck to the dog pants should be fine. And yes to what trish said! Make sure you take the pants off before your girl goes outside to do her business .Good luck, Nina
