Has anyone used Bio Spot? I just got one of my dog supply catalog's and I see where there is a product called Bio Spot for fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. It is much less expensive than some of the other topical products and wondered if anyone had used it and if it is effective and safe. They claim to have the same ingredients as one of the popular flea topicals, Permethrin and (S) Methoprene. I am skeptical due to the price being much less. Thanks

Re: Has anyone used Bio Spot? I was in a pinch once and thought I'd try Bio Spot, since I had seen in a catalog that it was supposedly guaranteed ( I don't remember if it was the catalog company guarantee or Bio Spot themselves). I didn't find it very effective at all. I think initially it may have killed some of the fleas, but it definately did not last long. Dawn

Re: Has anyone used Bio Spot? I have used it in the past and will NOT buy it again. To be honest, it seemed to work OK, though I must point out that we don't have much of a flea/tick problem in our area. It might not work as well in a place where pests are prevalent. The reason I hate it is because it is very oily and leaves an unsightly oil slick on the dog until the next bath. I have never had this happen with Frontline or Advantix. Ergo, I have decided that saving a few bucks isn't worth it and we are back to the premium stuff. When you figure out how much your dogs cost per annum for everything else, what's a few dollars saved on cheap flea protection? It's not worth it. Hope this helps.

| Re: Has anyone used Bio Spot? I also would not recommend ANY over the counter flea control applications. I have heard so many horror stories about them; some dogs have even died from over the counter flea meds.

Re: Has anyone used Bio Spot? I have used Bio Spot and it works ok but doesn't seem to last as long as the better brands. And yes, it does leave a nasty "oil slick" where is was applied!

Re: Has anyone used Bio Spot? I did some reading on Permethrin years ago. If I remember correctly it is bad stuff. Try a Goggle search on it.

Re: Has anyone used Bio Spot? Please, Please do not use it or any of the over the counter products. I work at a veterinary hospital and find that they are not as effective as frontline or advantix, and have seen horrible reactions including seizures in dogs and death in cats.

Re: Has anyone used Bio Spot? Hartzvictims.org is one site about what happens to some pets who have used the over-the-counter flea meds by hartz. I don't think biospot is by hartz, but I wouldn't ever buy any over the counter flea product. I stick with advantage or frontline.

Re: Has anyone used Bio Spot? I didn't know that it was an over the counter product as I saw it in my Omaha Vaccine catalog. Thanks for everyone's imput. I'm definitely not going to use it. There are some very knowledgeable people on this board and I thank you again.
