| Re: Anal glands ? My oldest shih tzu will occasionally have mildly impacted anal glands. Her behaviour when this happens is to "scoot" across the floor. Generally, thats them trying to apply pressure to drain the glands themselves. She never chews at her back end though. |

| Re: Anal glands ? OMG, you will never forget that smell when they bust. :) I have a chow/boxer mix that has trouble with her anal glands, and we always know when because she starts to spin around or scoot across the floor. She doesn't have much luck anymore because we replaced all of our carpet with hardwood floors, so now I have even seen her scoot across the grass. |

| Re: Anal glands ? In my experience, most big dogs do not need their anal glands expressed. If they do, most of the time it is for a reason (i.e. infection). Please go to the vet and get his glands expressed. If their is an issue, a groomer will not be able to express them (they could burst ).

| Re: Anal glands ? Check the end of her tail. There was another thread not long ago where the dog had an infection at the tip of the tail! |
