Re: Our Sweet Sassy Has Parvo!?!?

Please keep us posted I am crying for you (Happy ones) as I rember the first time my boy kept food down it was like heaven. As I knew then he was well. My vet told me if he could keep a solid down for more than 3 hours he would improve quickley and he did. He was also sick for about 8 days before he could eat.
~hugs to you and your girl~

I know we are not "out of the woods" yet....trust me I know because this has been such an up and down roller coaster.....but I am VERY hopeful as this is the first time in over a week she has kept down things with no vomiting at all!!

Re: Our Sweet Sassy Has Parvo!?!?

Went to see Sas about 2 hrs ago...she was still kinda laying around but she was waaay more alert and she lifted her head several times. The vet said that she did not throw up the EN they gave her last night but that she held it in her mouth and spit it out after they left. They found it in her cage and it looked just like when they put it in! Some peoples dogs I tell ya....they also gave her a bath so she was kinda worn out. So I was loving on her and I always get up in her face and kiss her nose and face and wouldnt you know that little butthead growled at me!!!!! I wasnt sure at first so I did it again and she did it again....it sounded more like a snore! What a PUNK!!! Anyways, the vet asked me to make her boiled chicken and rice and also bring in some baby food (chicken and turkey flavors) so as soon as hubby gets home I am headed back up there to see what we can get down her! Thanks so the continued support and prayers! Oh, and no diarrhea....

GOOD NEWS! Well....I'd hold off on those snuggles for awhile - how about an ear scritch instead? I imagine a bit of crankiness is to be expected, the poor little girl.

GOOD NEWS! Make sure to cook the rice REALLY well - add a bit extra of water and cook it longer than normal. It will be easier for her to digest. You could use low sodium chicken broth for part of the water, also. You could also blend it into mush (that's likely what I would do under these circumstances - at least to get her going on eating). No fat or skin with the chicken - you can cook it with both, but don't feed her any fat or skin.

It sounds like she's doing much, much better - it must be those lucky sardines Bamboo got, LOL!

Re: Our Sweet Sassy Has Parvo!?!?

Great! Both the chicken and the rice are cooking now and I will add a little more water with the rice....the chicken is the boneless, skinless that we eat so I just tossed a chicken breast in some boiling water and added a touch of salt....thanks again! I will update later this evening!
