Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Lucasmom and Marley my thoughts are with you at this sad time.

As others have said before me you are truly showing Lucas and Marley how much you love them by ending their suffering despite the fact that it is breaking your hearts to do so.

Have a great memorial weekend with them take and make some more memories

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Marley and Lucas are both in my thoughts. I am sorry that this disease is taking two more beloved Rotties. You are both in my thoughts during this very difficult time. Laurie, I would also keep the tags. Our dog has worn the same collar for 10 years, there is no way I am getting rid of it.

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

As a family member on RDF please know that you are both(Laurie and Lucas), (Marley and Jaxx), in my thoughts today. If today is the day you will know well and your only second thought would be that physically they are not here, your only reason for regret. I am thinking of you both and know the feeling oh to well. Hold nothing back, because this your last act of love will forever be in your mind. Tell them its ok and you love them and how great they have been and they will always be with you. I don't even need to tell you this. I am just nervous for you both and so wish this wasn't happening......Debbie

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Laurie and Marley,
My thoughts are with you during this awful time. we all know exactly how hard this is for you-we all have walked the same path that you have, and we all know the pain you are going through. Know that you are doing the right thing for them-they are telling you what to do in the only way they can. Be comforted by all your memories, the love you have for each other, and the knowledge that you are doing the best thing you can for them. Mike is right, Xena and Riley are waiting for them, ready to play and they can all do the things they love to do and haven't been able to do in a while. I also say, keep the tags!! We have all of Riley's tags on her collar-which is around the neck of her favorite stuffed baby Rottie. I will be keeping both of you in my thoughts and prayers. It will probably be the most difficult thing you will ever do, but you are doing it for them.

On a side note, this was yet another week of firsts without her. My birthday was Tuesday, and it was the first one without her-I was not in a celebrating mood. I just didn't care. Also, for the first time since 1999, we went down the shore without Riley. We did take her ashes with us so she was "there" but boy, did we miss her!! We are pretty sure we will spread some of her ashes down there, we just haven't decided where to do it, so we will save that for the next time we are down. We also saw a Rottie walking down our street-the first time ever-my mother in law said that in the 20+ years they have had their house, they have never seen a Rottie other than ours on the street-it was like Riley was giving us a sign. Our 4 year old niece asked me if we still cry about Riley and if we miss her-I told her that we do, and she said she misses her too and wants to see her. I told her that she can wave to her in Heaven every day and that even though we can't see her, she can see us and that she's watching over us. That made Emma happy.

Keep us posted.

Gina

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

My thoughts are for those who are very close to getting their angel wings and their heartbroken owners.

It won't be too much longer for Sophie, I feel. Though she is holding her own, she is not as well as she has been and I would appreciate so much if you could find it in your hearts to send her some healing vibes.

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Jaxx went to meet his rottie friends Xena and Riley this morning. I am sure it is quite a sight, all those nubbies wagging.

My heart is broken and I am in such pain, but I know I did what was right for him.

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Anne, not Sophie too. This week is so awful...

Nina's 10th birthday is Thursday. She is still maintaining; the switch to previcox seems to be all right. We'll see.

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Since there are several dogs facing the Rainbow Bridge in this thread, I would like to allow it to remain open. Please post your condolences for the dogs that have passed in the Rainbow Bridge forum so I can leave it open for the others still in need of advice for their dogs.

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

My dearest rottie friends-
My beloved Lucas joined all of his rottie friends in Heaven at 5pm today. I could not in good conscience allow my baby to linger any longer. While he was still able to walk outside to go "potty", climb the stairs, and jump in the car with help...I wanted him to die with dignity still able to feel proud of himself. This muscle mass was wasting away so rapidly and he was having a hard time getting down the stairs and getting up after lying down for awhile. We had to hoist him up all of the time now, otherwise he would just lay in the same position. It was time..........

We were all there when he was PTS and I stayed very strong and spoke to him bravely while he was getting his injection. I told him that I loved him so very much and that it was time for him to go meet all of his rottie friends and chase all of those darn squirrels and cats! He looked at me lovingly and then he shut his eyes and his face rested in my arms. It was so fast and very peaceful. After he was gone and could no longer see me, I broke down into a million pieces....as you could expect.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for all of your love and support over the past 3 months. You have become my friends and I feel like I know each of you deep in my heart. Lucas will always be with me as will all of your babies.

Marley...I am so very sorry that we both faced this together today. I have thought about you all day and told Lucas that Jaxx was going to meet him at the "Pearly Gates" today. They are together now along with all of their other rottie friends...Xena, Riley, and all of the other rotties that we have come to know and love.

I will post Lucas' pictures and updates on rainbow bridge. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers and stay on this thread to help those of you who are still facing this monster of a disease. My love to you all - Laurie

Glad to hear Nina is still doing well and will have a happy 10th birthday.
Sophie is younger. She turned 7yo on 17th January.

It looks like your Nina and my Sophie are the only two osteosarcoma dogs remaining. How very sad.the others we came to know so well are no longer here.

I will keep you and Nina in my daily prayers and Nina is always in my thoughts.

Please keep posting so we can support eachother through this.
