Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Caseygina My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

It sounds as if you are doing the right thing by Riley although it is the hardest thing a pet owner ever has to do but we do it even though our hearts are breaking.

I know when I lost Beau two weeks ago I dont think I have ever cried so much but I can honestly say I have never regretted letting him go to the bridge.

Riley knows she is loved and you will always have your memories

Caseygina - I'm so sorry you had to make this awful decision. I'm sure you know in your heart this is the right decision even though it is so painful. I'm sure Riley knows how much you love her. Enjoy every moment of the time you spent with her today...

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Caseygina-

I'm sorry to hear this, and I know your heart is breaking. Know that in freeing her from her suffering, you are coming as close as we humans ever do to showing her the selfless love she has shown you every day. She will love you forever as you will love her.

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

How heartbreaking, I am crying for you and Riley and all I can offer is my thoughts and prayers but I wish there were more.

Hug and kiss her, tell her you love her and know that you are doing the right thing.

You are setting her free from her pain and she will know that you love her totally and unconditionally.

I am so sorry

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Oh Gina............

So sorry to hear about poor Riley.....

These are the most difficult times there are for us as responsible owners. As you know, I'm fully aware of how you feel right now. Tomorrow will be 4-weeks, and I still feel all out of sorts. My heart goes out to you & your husband, and of course, to Riley as well.

But if it makes you feel any better, Riley is giving you all the classic signs that she is 'ready'........even though you could never be!! You're doing the right thing by her, as you've done all along. Today will be the most important one of all.............

Good luck, I hope it all goes as well as can be expected.

Sincerely,
MK

P.S. Be happy that she got to have one last trip to the shore with you guys........I'm sure she is!!!

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Gina-
Oh my God..........my heart is breaking for you. I am sick to my stomach over poor Riley. You are so right that there is never a good time to put our best friends to rest. I keep waiting, and watching as well. This is the hardest thing we have to face and we know that it is just a matter of time. I have to keep telling myself that I have to do WHAT IS BEST for Lucas, as you are for your dear Riley. You would not want your beloved dog to suffer.

As we speak, I am waiting for Lucas vet to call me. Lucas suddenly began to have nose bleeds yesterday. My house is full of sprayed blood. I have been cleaning non stop. I am afraid that Lucas' cancer is spread to his sinuses. I am going to most likely be facing the exact same decision you have made today. My heart breaks for you and this is very, very difficult for all of us. Please know that I am praying for you. Laurie

Oh Laurie, poor Lucas ! Is he at the vet's or still at home with you ? Please keep us updated on how he is doing.

I am so saddened about Riley and now bad news about Lucas. My heart hurts from all of this news. I am praying for strength and offering all the support I can to all of us who are suffering through this most painful time.

Marley

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Riley is at peace now. I have posted over at the Rainbow Bridge. I can honestly say it was so peaceful, she turned her head one last time to look at me, then looked at my husband before she put her head down. I saw all the love in her eyes as she looked at us one last time, it happened so fast, honestly it was not even a minute. This is so painful for us, our hearts are breaking, but she is what was important, and her suffering has ended.

Laurie, I can only say I understand about Lucas-you will know it is time. I wish I could say more, but I do understand. Riley will be there, and they can meet when it is his time. She is going to have so many new friends, unfortunate they have to meet this way.

I thank everyone for all your support and prayers. I will keep praying for all of you. Please give your "kids" an big extra hug and extra kisses tonight.

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Gina-
I don't know what to say at this very painful time to you. I am so saddened about Riley, but am glad that it sounds like she had a very loving and peaceful passing to the other side. Thank you for your kind thoughts about Lucas...you shouldn't even have to think about him or anyone else during this difficult time. I do find great comfort in your comment about our beloved dogs meeting in Heaven and enjoying their eternal life together. God loves our dogs even more than we do. We can take comfort in knowing this truth.

Please keep in touch with all of us. We all need each other. I feel like I am losing all of my rottie friends one by one. Lucas doesn't have much time left. Marley...thank you for keeping Lucas in your prayers. I am home from the vet now and Lucas is with me. The vet said that the tumor has likely spread to his sinuses as I suspected. He thinks that there is a tumor in his left sinus. He said there is no sense in doing X-rays since he knows what it is. This is just confirmation that his time is near. He told me that is Lucas continues to bleed, that I really need to put him down. The next place for his cancer to spread is the brain. This would be very, very painful and he would begin with seizures.

So...dear Riley and Xena, your friend Lucas is coming home soon to be with you. My prayers are with you Gina. Laurie

Re: HELP - My best friend has osteosarcoma

Laurie, I feel for you. That doesn't sound like good news about Lucas. I truly hope you have more time with him.

My heart breaks for every one of us with our loved dogs going through this terrible disease. You're right Laurie, we do all need eachother at this time, to give eachother moral support and understanding.

Nursing Sophie through her osteosarcoma is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Every day we have together is a bonus.

Gina, A special prayer for Riley, you and your family. This is the hardest thing to do, but she will always be in your heart as Lexi is in mine. RIP Riley girl.
