Kenzie has Parvo :(

Last Friday (Sept 28), Kenzie got Parvo. She has been getting IV's, antibotics, and anti-nausia medication. She is still sick and still vomiting with diarrea. The vets keep telling me to "give her more time" and "she still has a chance" BUT its been A WEEK of constant sickness! Not much improvement. I don't want her to suffer. What would you do if this was your puppy?

Re: Kenzie has Parvo :(

I would be getting some Parvaid Amber Technology - Natural Health Care For Your Pets to put her on. You certainly can't hurt at this point and I know quite a few people have had good luck with it. I used it for a NOT Parvo but parvo LIKE illness that my pups got 2 years ago and it pulled them through

Re: Kenzie has Parvo :(

Parvaid can mean the difference between good outcome and bad. A friend used it on a litter with good results. It doesn't guarantee anything, but as Diane said, it's worth a try.

Post Re: Kenzie has Parvo :(

If she is still fighting after a week...you still have a chance. Often pups die after a few days. I am assuming she was vaccinated? So she must have gotten some immunity?

What was her vaccine schedule? When did she get her first vaccination? If they are started too early....the vaccine cancels the immunity to the disease.

I agree with the others, get some Parvaid...I've heard nothing but good things about this stuff. Also go and buy some jars of baby food (different meat flavours) and see if you can get her to lick some food off of your finger...and get her appetite back again.

Fingers crossed that she will get better.

Yeah, she was vaccinated. I'll ask my Vet about the Parvid and keep my fingers crossed. Its just REALLY hard to see her so darn sick.

What was the vaccine schedule? When did she get her first vaccination? at what intervals were they given? what was the company that made the vaccine?

I would order the Parvaid right now...ASAP. The vet may not be aware of it, and by the time they investigate it may be too late.

Re: Kenzie has Parvo :(

Chivas had parvo for 10 days and had 3 parvo vaccines prior to getting ill. She was VERY sick for about 6 of the 10 days, she pulled through and grew up to be a very handsome and intelligent girl at 100lbs. So dont fall the for urban myth that parvo dogs become stunted, not true. My rescuced sheltie also had a much milder case of parvo, he is oversized at 17 inches and 42lbs.

Re: Kenzie has Parvo :(

Many vets have not heard of Parvaid, and of those that have, most don't seem to want to know, as it goes against everything that their Western medicine training has taught them.

Also, with the latest 2c strain of Parvo, which is super-aggressive, with symptoms appearing at a greatly accelerated rate, I would recommend that you also buy Vibactra Plus as well as the Parvaid.

In fact, where a dog has had Parvo for three or more days, or as soon as a sick dog has started having bloody diarrhea, we also recommend Life Cell Support too.

In the meantime, you should try the Parvo Emergency Tea recipe. If you do a search on Google, say, you'll find the recipe, but it's also available in a free book called Parvo Treatment 101.
