spaying 9 month old female questions

ok i wanted to wait a til riley was a year old or so to spay her because of what i found on the forum and what not about waiting... but now my male german shepherd has started going crazy and he hasnt been neutered. he has no training what so ever because my dad wont spend the money on him. riley has learned so much since ive gotten her and she has grown quite a bit and is a fairly trained pup. but my question is should i spay her? do you think spaying her will make the german shepherd calm down?

much help needed!

Yes..please spay her ASAP!
At 9 months of age she is mature enough to be spayed. Your intact male will calm down once she is spayed. Please make sure to keep them seperated till she is spayed.

Having the male neutered will calm him down and make him easier to live with also.

There is no reason to be keeping any of these dogs intact.

Re: spaying 9 month old female questions

Please make sure she is not in season if you are planning on spaying her right now. (Is that why the male is 'going crazy'?).

It's not very safe to spay a girl in season, or one that's pregnant, as the reproductive organs are using a lot of the body's blood, and the risk of bleeding is much higher.

Best time to spay is between seasons.

Good luck.

Re: spaying 9 month old female questions

Please tell me you have not left your dog and the intact shepherd alone for anytime the last couple of weeks? If you did for any amount of time, your dog is probably already pregnant since you said her heat is almost over.
No wonder the male is going bonkers.
To be on the very safe side, continue to keep them seperated and make that appointment quickly.
