Help!!! White rice, squiggly things in poop

When my 10 week old Rott Pepper, poops I have notice some white rice like things moving around in her poop. Sort of like a flat worm.

Can anyone tell me what it is and what I should do to get them to stop....

Also, what is a good food to feed her..

Thanks

It's just worms.

I would take a stool sample in to your vet, and he will give you the proper worming medicine to take care of them.

I'm thinking tape worm segments maybe? or maybe it's roundworms, definitely take a sample to the vet to get the right meds for the job!

Sounds like tapeworms.

Food--the good, the bad, the ugly--has been discussed repeatedly in Nutrition and Grooming. Reading thru the postings there will be helpful. You'll be able to answer your own question and you'll know why the food you're feeding is a good one.

Sounds like tape worms to me also...and if you are seeing alot of them...then the puppy has a heavy worm load. I would also suspect your puppy to have fleas. Please get your puppy to a vet to be dewormed and get it on some flea preventative.

I surmise your pup came from a BYB, if it's loaded with worms at 10 weeks of age.

Food has been discussed here many times...do a google search on Canidae, Innova, Wellness, Timberwolf Organics, Natural Balance, etc. all good choices for a puppy.

Re: Help!!! White rice, squiggly things in poop

Thanks and sorry for asking about the food. I will try and do a better job... I will take the stool to a vet. I was just wondering what I should do until I am able to take off work to take it to a vet.

Also, what does BYB Mean.... The breeder I got her from and I have been having some issues as she will not give me the AKC papers because I told her she sold me a sick dog.. It had fleas and I had to take her to get them taken care of...

Again thanks for the help

There is no "first aid" treatment for worms. You need to take your puppy to a vet for treatment, and I would not wait. Worms can make your puppy very sick.

Any newly acquired puppy should see a vet for a well puppy vet check as soon as possible after bringing them home for just this reason....to catch any problem that may be present.

Well consider yourself educated. If you are having problems with your puppy over the AKC papers for her having worms (which would be the fault of the "breeder" for not worming her properly prior to letting you take her home), then more than likely you have bought from a BYB ("Back Yard Breeder"). It also sounds as if you don't have any contract that gives you the right to the papers and which would also have required you to get a vet check on the puppy sometime during the first 72 hours that you had her in your possession.

Hopefully, worms will be the worst of her problems. Do you know if the breeder did any health certifications on this puppy's sire and dam? Hips, elbows, heart, eyes?

Re: Help!!! White rice, squiggly things in poop

Thanks, she probably was a BYB, she told me that she registered the liter, however, when I contacted AKC she had not. When I called her back about the puppy being sick, she did not call me back. Being that I had given her a post date check for the balance 100.00, she only called me back when I put a hold on the check. She then stated to me that she was not going to give me the paper for my puppy, I have already spent about 400.00 getting her tested etc. due to bad dierrea... I recorded my conversation with her, and hopefully AKC will allow me to get the papers....

Thanks for your help.

Well, your puppies health is far more important than her papers! What have you done about the worms???

You spent $400 on what tests? I find it hard to believe that much money could be exhausted for a puppy with diarrhea without finding the worms! Maybe you need a new vet.
