Back Legs larger than front legs

My pup is about 4 months now and I noticed his back legs were a little higher than his front legs. I noticed it makes him sit crooked and sometimes walk a little different. Anyone have any information? Thanks

Mitch

Re: Back Legs larger than front legs

Pups grow in front and in rear… sometime they walk “uphill” and sometimes they walk “downhill” … so to speak!
Looks like you have a normally puppy!

Re: Back Legs larger than front legs

Sounds normal to me I know a few friends who've recently had pups and the pups seem to grow strangely...one side of the body grows more then the other catches up...if he is palying normally and has lots of energy I'd just keep an eye on things, I bet he will "even out" eventually.

Re: Back Legs larger than front legs

In my experience, rottie pups grow in odd ways. It's almost like they are using all of their energy to focus on one section of their body at a time! We've got pictures of Nina with abnormally small heads, huge ears, long legs... eventually though, they all catch up. But they do go through a long 'awkward stage'.

Re: Back Legs larger than front legs

Lola looked like a spider growing up. First long back legs then long front legs and a tiny head. When I held her, her legs came down to my thighs. When her chest dropped, her head got large and the entire dog finally came together. Sounds like your pup is perfectly fine.

Re: Back Legs larger than front legs

like all that mentioned above, it is probably a growth stage...but if you suspect any abnormalities such as extreme bowing on legs, extra straight stifles, way shorter in the front than rear,ect-have your vet evaluate him on next visit.
