| Re: Heartgard Problem ? I've had several dogs either vomit or have nasty sloppy stools after getting their Heartworm pills For those dogs I used Interceptor at the Safeheart dosage (it's an FDA approved dose of the same product- 11-25 lb Interceptor dose for a 51-100lb dog) and that reduced or eliminated the problem. The safeheart dose does NOT kill intestinal parasites just heartworm You should ask your vet about it Overfeeding by a friend could also do it, especially if it was different food

| If it's Heartgard Plus, that has a wormer in it. It could be that your pup's had worms and the worms have died off after the dosage. They often have upset tummies after deworming. Gina

| Re: Heartgard Problem ? i have never had a problem with heartgard plus chewables. i do it since they are 8 weeks of age for life. i know some breeds can be a bit sensitive to it, such as collies, aussies. i think from what you described and both at the same time, that it could be the overfeeding/diet change related. if it happens again next month with the heartgard dosing, then i would consider switching to interceptor in case it is a sensitivity issue.

| Re: Heartgard Problem ? thanks all for the help ..much appreciated :) the puppies recovered and back to normal yesterday morning, i guess it was either the HG or overfeeding. ps. i feed them wellness and i switch to Canidae. thanks to this site |
