Enlarged Prostate, other?

I started a tread in chit-chat called "Old Age". It is looking a little more then just old age. I got a call from the vet with the results of Duncan's labs.
Background: Duncan is a 10 year old neutered (neutered at age 3 years) male that went off his food. My own vet is on vacation so I went to another vet some distance from me. X-rays showed LS disease (specific arthritis of the spine) and enlarged prostate.
Duncan's blood results are fine. It is his urine. He has blood and slightly elevated white blood cells. The radiologist thinks he sees crystals in his bladder (wasn't completely sure if I heard the vet- can you see crystals in the bladder on an x-ray?).
I asked for the vet's conclusion based on the results of the tests. Duncan has an abnormal UT system which could be caused by any of the following:
UT infection
Crystals (what causes crystals and what diet is best for them?)
Prostate infection
Prostate cyst
Prostate cancer

What the vet did say that based on the results there is no real reason to cause a food hound like Duncan to go off his food. Naturally that just screams cancer to me. The vet suggested an ultra sound to verify/eliminate the uglier possibilities. That can happen as soon as Friday afternoon.
Any suggestions or comments?
As to the LS disease which is a bridging of the L7 and S1 vertebra. This is the lower back. Would an elevated feeding station help or hurt a lower back problem? On Duncan's OFA certification for his good hips it also stated, "Spine transitional vertebra". Eight years ago when he had his OFAs done, I was told by OFA that this spine transitional vertebra was just something that they noted and didn't have any clinical significance. Now I am wondering if there is anything to it. Anyone know for certain?
