| Food Amounts
Kali is now 4 months old. How much should I be feeding her? I was giving her 1 1/2 cups three times a day. We were at the vet two days ago and she was 31 1/2 pounds. Is this Ok? |

| Our vet and our trainer both told us the same thing. Feed twice a day, morning and again at night. Give as much as they can eat in twenty minutes and then take it away. This also taught Gryphon what feeding time was and got him on a schedule. He has alway been perfect in size and shape feeding this way. BTW- he never gets dinner after 6pm and this includes water, that also help with him getting on a set schedule. |

| Denise, The amount of food is determined by what type of food you are feeding. I don't feed puppy food past 4 months of age. High protein puppy food can cause over growth of the long bones in the legs and other problems. The absolute best food I have found is INNOVA made by Natura Pet Products - www.naturapet.com - Use the dealer locator to find a store in your area. 1 1/2 cups 3three times a day = 4 1/2 cups a day. Sounds like a lot for a 4 month old dog to me. Yes I know that they will probaly eat any amount you feed them so that is why it is important to feed 2 times a day and portion feed. At 4 months old you want a lean looking body. Thinner is always better. Look into the INNOVA food and try feeding 3 cups a day. Adult dogs should be feed 1 8oz. cup for 25 Lb. of weight. Puppies will eat a little more. If you get diarrhea you are feeding to much food. Hope that helps, Mike |
