| I just had my 6yr old rescue neutered. Am I glad! My other old sweetie rescue was nearly ten and had had years of bladder infections and severely enlarged prostate (previous owner). Never had an infection after, but I am certain it was harder on him at his age.
I had hip and bladder films done while he was under anaesthesia. He had an enlarged prostate. (He was too... unfriendly... for a prostate exam when I first took him in.) I recommend hip films while under anaesthesia for spay/neuter procedure if not done before - my boy's showed severe hip dysplasia. No symptoms that I noticed but I'm going to start him on supplements right away. |
