| Heart Murmur & Bad Hips Nala went to the vets on Monday to be spayed. It seems the vet detected a very pronounced heart murmur and suspects her hips are bad also. I'm not sure how she could tell her hips may be bad since she was scared to death of Nala because she tried to bite her, the tech and finally she did get my boyfriend on the arm and fingers. They were trying to muzzle her and she had never been to the vets before. So of course she would have to be put out for an echo cardiogram. Does anyone know about heart murmurs she is only 10 months old. |

| Unless the vets xrayed her hips while she was out there s no way to tell about them Rotts are susceptible to having SAS which is Sub aortic stenosis. Proper diagnosis would require a dopplar echocardiogram done by a cardiac specialist. Dogs with SAS often get a worse murmer up til abut 1 or 2 years of age and then stabilise. Dogs with very severe SAS will die before 3 years of age. Dogs with mild to moderate SAS can live full lives. I have a spayed bitch here with mild SAS and she'll be 6 in April and she's a wild thing! The american rottweiler club has several good articles on sas. http://www.amrottclub.org ------------------ Diane Frontier Rottweilers & Shiba Inu www.frontierrots.com |
