My beloved "Dozer"

My beloved "Dozer" passed away on Feb. 26, 2000, last Saturday. He was 9-1/2 years old and perfectly healthy (I thought).Dozer was in the house most of the time but had a doggie door when he wanted go go outside.
Saturday morning I heard his cry from the living room. He threw his head back and stiffened his legs (I assume some kind of a seizure and several more on the way to the vet). He died as soon as we arrived at the vet. I miss him so and wish I just knew the reason why.
Has anyone else experienced this?? Please let me hear from you.

Carolann, I think many of us here have experienced the unexpected loss of a wonderful pet. Too many of our beloved Rottweilers have passed away far too young and they are sadly missed. I'm awfully sorry about your Dozer. It's a terrible emptiness to be without those friends who accept us unconditionally and who always give us their best. I still choke up, two months later, when I think of Sam, or people like you who have just gone through this. I'm very sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear about Dozer but at least he didn't suffer too much. And you had so many happy years with him. Remember the good times!

I wish I could say something that would make your pain and sadness disappear. Dozer left so suddenly without time to say goodbye but always remember the love you shared and his spirit will live forever.

The first thing that came into my mind was strychnine poisoning, as I have seen a picture of this in a book. What did your vet tell you it was?
Did they do a necropsy?
It must have been some kind of poisoning, in my immediate opinion. Where I live, irate neighbors poisoning your dogs due to some stupid reason is not an uncommon report.
Sorry about Dozer...

Carolann, Yes it's so hard to go thru the loss of a loved one. You memories of Dozer will help you through these hard times. Our dogs only ask of our love.....they gave so much in return. Dozer will be with you and when you meet again...the happiness will be forever.
