| Amoebiasis and Anemia My almost 3 months female Rottie pup got Amoebiasis and Anemia. She is taking so many medications right now. Her Amoeba is gone (thanks ) but the Anemia or the blood count is still slow and I want to know if this Anemia thing is serious? and Will this sickness affect the Growth Rate or worse will stunt the growth of my Rottie. She is only 21 lbs. and 15 inches. Is this height and weight ok? I've read from this forum the Purina Puppy Chow is not that good? How not good? I'm giving mine Puppy Chow but shifting to Eukanuba Large Breed maybe in the next two weeks... I'll let her consume the Puppy Chow First. And When will I stop feeding Puppy food? at what age? and what good dog food after Eukanuba Large Breed? Thanks in advance [This message has been edited by lotte (edited August 23, 1999).] |

| Check out: http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/For...ML/000075.html You'll find growth size/weight info there. You don't say what condition your girl's in - is she on the thin side from her illness? If so, I'd keep up with the puppy food until her size and weight are more normal for her age. Has the vet recommended anything for her anemia? (I don't know what supplements are available where you live.) I don't know if her health problems will affect her growth rate or her eventual size - without more detail about the severity of her condition it would be difficult to say. Has your vet given you any idea? I have seen and had puppies survive Parvo and be normal size adults so perhaps this will be the case with your puppy also. | I think my Rott is recovering quite well....thanks god... I've talk to my vet and she said that I'm lucky that I rushed the dog to the clinic and I saved the puppy's life. She also point out that my Rottie sickness will not affect her growth. ![]() And for Anemia, She has two medicines : Vibramycin (Doxycycline HCI) and Sangobion Capsule (Ferrous gluconate + vitamins and minerals). |

| Good to hear that she is recovering well! The doxycycline is an antibiotic; the other is the iron for anemia. I'd think that would clear her problems up .Nancy ------------------ von Dorow Rottweilers doggo1@apex2000.net |
