Chemical Sterilization?

I read somewhere recently about chemical sterilization/neutering, but can't recall where i saw this.

Is this something down the road, or is it available? If it is available is it widespread?

I will see my vet next week, but if anyone knows about this, I would like to get some information.

A chemical has been
developed for the sterilization of male dogs that is injected into the testicles (!) I don't believe it has been marketed widely. In Europe, where spaying is less common, I have been told that bi-yearly hormone injections are available to keep bitches from coming into heat.

thanks, mary. i was hoping there was a way i could get my rescue neutered without anesthesia. doesn't sound like it's happening yet.
