| Help! Found worms!
Last night Goliath threw up. When I took a closer look at what came up, it just appeared to be partially undigested food. However, upon closer examination I saw a couple of worms. I did not see them move, they were whitish in color, very thin and small, and were kind of coiled. Goliath has been needled and has had two deworms. I am very concerned about this. Does he need to be dewormed again or could it be something worse? Any help would be appreciated. [Note: This message has been edited by ~cosmo] |

| Hi, Sounds like another worming is in order. Bring a (fresh) fecal sample in to your vet and he can check to see exactly what kind of worms Goliath has. My pup had to be wormed three times to completely rid him of roundworms. We did strongid the first two times, and the vet went to panacur the last time. Kim |

| Brenda: Our two get checked for internal parasites twice/year. When they go in for spring tune-up, I bring in a stool sample & I bring in another stool sample in the late fall. I also examine their stool samples, checking to see what I can see. It often takes more than one dosage to get rid of internal parasites. |

| It sounds like roundworms - not unusual to find them either in stools or in vomit - especially if the dog is in an area where he can easily get reinfected - like public parks, etc. Monthly heartworm preventatives usually also take care of roundworms. | What kind of Heartworm pill is Goliath is he taking because Interceptor does a great job of keeping him free of worms. You have to make sure also he is not reinfecting himself. make sure feces is pick up right away worm also may be in yor soil the only way to fix it is to put in fresh topsoil |

| lindsey, Goliath isn't on heartworm prevention. Where I live it is extremely uncommon, although not impossible. I was thinking about putting him on it, I just haven't done it yet. He is going to the vet in a couple of days for the worms. Lastnight, he was sick again, this time some little bits of string came up (from one of his Kong toys) but I seen some little rocks too! At first, I just figured it was from him eating them outside. But then the more I thought about it I thought it strange that they would all be the same colour (dark stone). So, automatically I began to wonder if it is at all possible that he's got gall stones or kidney stones. Is this possible for a dog do you know? He seems to be in perfect heatlh, however, yesterday while he was eating his breakfast he started whimpering really bad, for no reason that I could see, then he started shaking all over while whimpering. He came to me and I soothed him, then he laid in from of my feet. I have no idea what caused him to do this, but it scared me! What's this all about? |

| I would go see a vet asap to make sure Goalith does not have a obstruction. Dogs will vomit if the have something that will not pass. |

| Goliath went to the vet lastnight. The doctor gave him some worm pills and will be doing a fecal analysis (just in case). He is going to be neutered next week and the vet will be doing blood work, checking his liver, kidneys, etc..before he does the surgery. Just to make sure everything looks good. Goliath now weighs 56 lbs and he is only 4.5 months old. He's very lean and has got the cutest waist I've ever seen. I wish I had that luck! |
