Tapeworms when to treat???

My dog has been passing worms in his stool. They are about 1 half inch and white in color. He is also 8 weeks old and his vet said he can not treat him for tapeworms until he gets older. Is this true??? He has given Barron strongid for round worms, however, did not treat him for tapes. At what age can he be treated???

i gave 'Drontal Plus' to my girl, when she was 8 weeks old, and i got good response.
But, IT CAN NOT BE USED IN COMBINATION OF PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN 'PIPERAZINA'.....SO U BETTER ASK YOUR VET.

i guess what u found was a piece of the worm, tape worms are segmented in little segments, be carefull, do not handle them with your raw hands, unless u want to get infected.

You need a new vet if yours told you to wait.
Your puppy can get inpacked from worms & die.
Droncit (ms?) is a excellant & safe drug to
use as all my puppys are wormed before they
leave my kennel.
To take a stool sample to a NEW vet, you need
a plastic baggie & stick your hands in it like a glove. Pick up a FRESH poop sample &
turn the baggie inside out as you pull your
hand out. Tie off the top & keep it in the
ice box untill you are ready to take it to
the vet. Very simple & so easy. GET YOUR
PUPPY WORMED ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My vet has also always treated the tape worms with Droncit, uses the same med. for the cats.
Tape worms are associated with Fleas. Make shure you pup is also free from fleas. The flea harbors the tape worm eggs and when the animal licks and swallows a flea, thus the tape worm infestation in the animal.
Droncit works great. I dont know of any over the counter meds. that kill tape worms. Droncit has worked best for all my pets.
