Throwing up

Hi,

I need some advice about my rotti. She is about 10months old and seem to be physcially fit. About a week ago, she start to throw up at night and only at night. All the other time she's happy and alive. Is there a reason for this behavior??

Thanks

If the dog is throwing up just bile, with no food in it, it could be that your dog needs to be fed smaller amounts, more frequently. Some dogs have a problem with being fed only once (or even twice) a day. The bile sitting in an empty stomach seems to irritate it and they throw up. Have you recently changed the number of times you feed your dog?

I used to have a terrier cross that had to be fed three small meals a day or she'd throw up. I have to make sure to feed my Rottie at fairly regular intervals or she'll vomit. If you think this might be the problem, trying dividing the daily ration into more portions and feeding more frequently.

My dog is also 10 months old and vomits sometimes. I can't correlate it with her eating habits or anything else. The vomit tends to be frothy and contain a little food. After she vomits, she is right back eating or playing so it doesn't seem to bother her. Any ideas??

I do feed my dog apple everyday for over 6 months. It never seem to affect her. Sometime, I also feed her oranges.

Gryphon will also do this once in a while and we think we figured it out. He only does this at night, right before morning. He sleeps in a create in our bedroom and when he does this it wakes us up. What we figured out is that in the morning he is very thirsty and his mouth very dry and this is causing him to gag. We give him a little water now just before bed time, let him go potty, then right up to bed and this seems to work. He will now only do this if we forget to give him his bedtime drink or on rare (two kids two dogs and a cat) occasions that we get to sleep in on weekends and don't get up early enough for him.
