Exercise - How Much for 6-1/2-mo. Old?

I have a 6 1/2 month female. What would you recommend for daily exercise? I was walking her about 3 miles (leisurely) 3-5 times a week, but her breeder said no way and I stopped. I don't want to cause any developmental problems with too much, nor do I want too little. What would be proper at this age?

I would recommend short leisurely walks that would last 30 minutes two times a day if you can afford it for your dog. Since the joints are still developing at this stage, looong, tiring walks are contraindicated. But walks would be beneficial for your dog's health, especially if it otherwise stays in a small area the whole day. It also nurtures the pet-person bond between you two, and enforces it's socialization.

Really? 3-5 miles is too much? I have two seven month olds and we walk at LEAST 2-3 miles every day and sometimes twice a day. Neither of them seem uncomfortable with this and often want to go again as soon as we get back!
